Avast! What happens when a chain o IRC servers breaks – if one becomes unsynched from the likes of that thar rest then half that thar people in yer channel “split” off n vanish. In olden days, IRC pirates used t’ ride in on netsplits with ops n seize power from the likes of ye n theive yer channels, but then that thar server admins decided t’ stop all that malarkay n IRC became infinitely less fun
