Glue Trap, Warfarin, Chocolate, Bubble Gum, Aluminium

Glue Trap, Warfarin, Chocolate, Bubble Gum, Aluminium

I ran out of spring traps.

I put down warfarin bait.

They ate it happily for a week until the bait box was empty. They even chewed through the aluminium foil which I’d fashioned into a tray to catch the bait.

Anxious that they shouldn’t get to breeding, I put down a glue trap, baited with chocolate and bubble gum, and left the remainder of the warfarin bait for good measure.

Four days later, here are the three mice caught.

The one on the right went for the bubble gum and warfarin grain, got stuck, and was devoured, it seems by one of the other two.

The one on the left got the chocolate.

The one at the back appears to have been the most recent to get caught — not sure whether he is responsible for the first mouse having been eaten.

I came back with more spring traps and have set these. They make a clean kill by breaking the mouse’s neck instantly. Even a predator, to which all mice would otherwise eventually fall prey, will not always kill that cleanly.
